Granny's Sugar Cookies

1 c. butter (no substitutes) softened
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 2/3 c. all purpose flour
1/4 tsp. salt

Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees.  Cream butter and sugar in mixer.  add egg and vanilla; mix well.  Stir in flour and salt until all is well blended.  Form cookies as desired.  (Nanna Note: I usually just roll into 1 inch balls then flatten with a glass into discs, but you can also chill the dough for an hour and roll out and cut into shapes OR form dough into a cylinder, chill and slice into cookies.)

Bake for about 10 minutes or until edges just turn golden.
